RENAL diets should be recommended as soon as creatinine rises above the reference range (from advanced IRIS stage 2 CKD), before the disease progresses further and before loss of appetite develops. In the event of food aversion, you can switch to another option in the RENAL range without needing a transition period. RENAL diets can be fed throughout the dog's life.
